About the conference

Navigating left-behindness: Exploring sustainable strategies to counteract territorial inequalities from an intersectional approach is a conference organized by the EU-funded project EXIT. The conference aim to bring together major stakeholders who deal with the problem of territorial inequality and to share and discuss the knowledge and evidence gathered through the project. The EXIT project highlights the need to move beyond simplistic narratives of “left-behind” areas and adopt nuanced, locally informed policy approaches to address territorial inequalities in Europe. This requires comprehensive and coordinated efforts at multiple governance levels, with a strong emphasis on local context and the lived experiences of residents. An important contribution to the conference is the presentation of the EXIT policy brief which will be discussed by EU Policy makers. The policy brief will focus on the effectiveness of different policies and strategies as perceived by stakeholders at various levels.

In addition, cross national findings on territorial inequality related to education, housing, employment, mobility, community and digital inclusiveness will be discussed based on findings in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Serbia, Spain and UK.
